Nigerian Army Controls Cameroonian Military Incursion

On June 9, 2026, the Nigerian Army's 82 Division, through a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan, addressed concerns regarding the unauthorized entry of personnel from the Cameroonian Armed Forces into the Danar Community within Boki Local Government Area, Cross River State. The Nigerian troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danar responded promptly upon receiving notification of the foreign military presence, which led to the withdrawal of Cameroonian troops from Nigerian territory in adherence to established border protocols.

The situation was swiftly contained without further escalation. Preliminary investigations indicated that the incident stemmed from a dispute over farmland located between Danar Community in Nigeria and Dadi Community in Cameroon.

The 82 Division has instructed the command of the 13 Brigade to engage with Cameroonian counterparts to discuss the situation, aiming to bolster border coordination and clarify operational procedures to prevent future incidents. The division reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigeria's territorial integrity and ensuring community security along the border.
