Nigerian Army Restores Calm After Cameroonian Incursion

The Nigerian Army has successfully restored calm in Cross River State following an unauthorized incursion by Cameroonian troops into the Danar community in the Boki Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Tuesday and prompted the immediate deployment of Nigerian troops to the area to prevent further escalation.

Olabisi Ayeni, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, disclosed that troops were sent to the forward operating base in Danar after receiving reports of the presence of Cameroonian soldiers. The Nigerian Army engaged with appropriate military authorities in Cameroon, which led to the withdrawal of the foreign troops from Nigerian territory.

Preliminary findings indicated that the incident stemmed from a dispute over farmland located in the Danar community. The 82 Division has directed the 13 Brigade to engage with their Cameroonian counterparts to further address the situation.

The Army reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigeria's territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of communities in the area.
