Bandits Kill Over 1,200 in Kwara North Under Tinubu

A report from the Kwara North Development Commission indicates that over 1,200 individuals have been killed by bandits in Kwara North since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in 2023. The region has experienced a continuous wave of attacks, resulting in hundreds of abductions and significant economic disruption.

The situation has escalated, with recent attacks including an invasion of the Emir's palace in Yashikira, Baruten Local Government Area, where gunmen abducted the Emir's wife and children. Stakeholders, including Alhaji Abdullahi Manzuma and Hajia Zainab Seko, have expressed deep concern over the near-total collapse of security across five local government areas: Baruten, Kaiama, Edu, Patigi, and Moro.

They warn that unless urgent action is taken by the federal government, the situation will worsen, affecting the social and cultural fabric of the region. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's administration has been acknowledged for its efforts, but the ultimate responsibility lies with President Tinubu as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
