Danladi Wins Kwara APC Governorship Primaries Amid Controversy

In the governorship primaries conducted by the APC in Kwara State, Salihu Yakubu Danladi was declared the candidate after receiving 94,990 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, who garnered 41,700 votes. The exercise, overseen by Musiliu Obanikoro, took place across 193 wards.

Other candidates included Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, who received 22,118 votes, and several others with lower tallies. Despite the announcement, there are allegations of coercion and dissatisfaction among party members regarding the results.

Concerns have been raised about a potential plot to impose Danladi as the candidate, with traditional rulers reportedly being mobilized to support him. The APC's National Working Committee in Abuja has yet to officially endorse the results.

The situation reflects ongoing tensions within the party, particularly regarding the representation of the Kwara North district, which has felt marginalized in governance for decades.
