Danladi-Saliu Wins APC Governorship Primary in Kwara

Yakubu Danladi-Saliu emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Kwara ahead of the 2027 elections, winning the primary with 94,990 votes. The results were announced by Musiliu Obanikoro, the chairman of the primary election committee, on Friday in Ilorin.

Danladi-Saliu defeated nine other aspirants, with Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki coming in second with 41,700 votes, followed by Olufemi Sanni with 5,519 votes, and Yahaya Oloriegbe with 3,920 votes. Other candidates included Moham Bergor San (3,411 votes), Moham Bio (1,122 votes), Alabi Oluwatoyin (1,099 votes), Bashiru Bolarinwa (22,118 votes), Abubakar Suleiman (1,722 votes), and Wale Suleiman (2,434 votes).

The primary was initially postponed due to logistical reasons, but the turnout was peaceful, demonstrating unity among party members. Princ Sundai Fagbemi praised the orderly conduct of the exercise, describing it as a successful primary that indicates the party's readiness for the 2027 general elections.
