Nigeria's Defence Minister Reaffirms Peacekeeping Commitment

On September 23, 2026, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), Nigeria's Minister of Defence, reaffirmed the nation's commitment to global peacekeeping at the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York. He attended the session alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the Nigerian delegation.

Following the session, General Musa visited the Defence Section of the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, where he received a briefing from Defence Attaché Brigadier General E.A. Koleosho regarding the section's strategic activities and operational commitments.

General Musa commended Brigadier General Koleosho and his team for their professionalism and loyalty to the ideals of the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He reiterated the Federal Government's determination, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to restore and expand Nigeria's active participation in international peace and security efforts, emphasizing the country's commitment to peacekeeping operations globally.
