UNICEF Praises Sokoto's Health and Digital Skills Investment

Catherine Russell, the Executive Director of UNICEF, commended Sokoto State's commitment to child health and digital skills during her visit to the Rumbukawa Primary Health Centre on an unspecified date. She interacted with health workers, teachers, and local officials, noting the determination of mothers to provide the best start for their children.

Russell stated that investing in young Nigerians is crucial for the country's future, emphasizing that today's choices will shape Nigeria for decades. She described the Rumbukawa facility as an example of frontline workers delivering care despite limited resources and highlighted the digital village's role in equipping youth with coding, design, and entrepreneurship skills.

Engr. Muhammad Idri Gobir, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, reaffirmed the government's readiness to partner with organizations that directly benefit the populace, disclosing plans to recruit 1,500 nurses and midwives for rural communities.

He also mentioned integrating Tsangaya Quran schools into the educational framework to modernize skills acquisition.
