UNICEF Provides Therapeutic Food for Malnourished Children

UNICEF has delivered therapeutic food to combat malnutrition among children in Kebbi State, Nigeria. During the launch of the distribution exercise in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris praised UNICEF and the World Health Organization for their support in addressing nutritional challenges faced by children in the state.

He emphasized the state government's commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, enhancing food security, and expanding water and sanitation services across Kebbi State. Governor Idris pledged continued government support, including providing counterpart funding necessary to ensure the success of health-related programs.

He reaffirmed his administration's determination to reduce the burden of malnutrition, describing the donation of therapeutic food as a significant contribution to safeguarding the health of vulnerable children. The state government has purchased 20,000 packs of therapeutic food to be distributed to 10,000 children, with a total cost of N140 million.

Michael Juma, UNICEF Chief Field Officer in Sokoto, and senior UNICEF officials, including Isa Ibrahim, reiterated the organization's commitment to supporting child nutrition and healthcare initiatives in Kebbi State.
