UNICEF and Yobe State Combat Child Malnutrition

UNICEF, in partnership with the Yobe State Government, has procured 3,264 cartons of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to address severe acute malnutrition in Yobe State. Hadiza Maina Adamu, the state nutrition officer, announced the handover during a media dialogue in Damaturu, which included journalists and health officials assessing the impact of the European Union's humanitarian aid funding for nutrition interventions across northeastern Nigeria.

This initiative is part of a larger scale nutrition program aimed at reducing acute malnutrition in Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa states. The program focuses on improving recovery rates and ensuring better access to RUTF for vulnerable children and women.

Adamu emphasized that malnutrition remains a critical challenge in the state, and the support from the European Union is vital for strengthening the nutritional response and ensuring that life-saving supplies reach those in need.
