FG Distributes Food Aid to 42,000 in Yobe State

On Wednesday, the Federal Government commenced the distribution of food aid to 42,000 vulnerable individuals across 17 local government areas in Yobe State. This initiative is part of the presidential emergency food and nutrition intervention program designed to combat hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.

Governor Mai Mala Buni highlighted the recent distribution of Ramadan palliatives to vulnerable households. The intervention, coordinated by the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with local government associations, aims to alleviate economic hardships faced by residents during the holiday month.

Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, emphasized the program's strategic response to escalating humanitarian challenges, exacerbated by prolonged conflict and climate change.

The food items distributed include rice, beans, millet, maize, and cooking oil. The program specifically targets internally displaced persons, female-headed households, malnourished children, and the elderly.

The initiative reflects the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to support citizens during difficult times.
