ATSSSAN Rejects Air Peace Petition, Clarifies Position

The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has rejected a petition filed by Air Peace, labeling it as ridiculous. The union responded to a police invitation regarding the petition, which accused ATSSSAN, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the Airport Command of the Nigeria Civil Police of various wrongdoings.

This situation arose after an industrial action on August 11, which grounded Air Peace's operations at Lagos and Abuja airports, disrupting travel plans due to the airline's alleged failure to remit the mandated five percent Ticket Sales Charge to the NCAA. ATSSSAN Secretary-General Francis Akinjole stated that the union met with the police to present its perspective on the events of August 11.

The police indicated that they might call all parties involved for a meeting to resolve the issues, emphasizing the need for peace in the aviation sector. Akinjole praised the workers for their solidarity in the struggle for justice.
