United Nigeria Airlines Collaborates with FAAN on Safety

United Nigeria Airlines, led by Chairman Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, held a strategic meeting with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at their headquarters in Lagos.

The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration to address aviation safety, maintenance, and operational challenges. Prof.

Okonkwo highlighted the rising incidence of bird strikes as a significant operational and financial challenge for the airline. He noted the constraints faced at sunset and sunrise at Category II airports, which limit operational hours and disrupt schedules due to inadequate facilities.

FAAN's Managing Director and CEO, Olubunmi Kuku, emphasized the importance of collaboration to improve safety and efficiency. She mentioned that FAAN is identifying major causes of bird strikes and implementing environmental measures, including improved grass habitat management.

The meeting included discussions on the necessity of sustained cooperation between the airline and the airport authority to ensure safe and efficient industry growth. Key members of United Nigeria Airlines' leadership team were also present.
