University of Ibadan Graduate Transitions to Tech Career

Akinkunmi Lasisi, a graduate of the University of Ibadan (UI) who studied Chemistry and Education, shared his career transition story on LinkedIn on August 31, 2026. Reflecting on his 2024 convocation ceremony, Lasisi discussed how his academic background unexpectedly prepared him for a career in the technology industry.

He emphasized the transferable skills he gained during his studies, particularly in problem-solving, communication, and collaboration, which he found valuable in software quality assurance. Currently, he is developing expertise in Manual QA Testing, API Testing using Postman, test case design, functional and regression testing, exploratory testing, and defect reporting.

Lasisi's journey illustrates the potential for graduates to leverage their academic experiences in diverse fields beyond their initial degree focus.
