Nigeria's NUCAP to Boost Connectivity for 2027 Elections

The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to enhancing the integrity of the 2027 general election through the implementation of the National Universal Communications Access Programme (NUCAP). Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, announced this initiative during an interactive session in Abuja.

NUCAP aims to extend reliable mobile and broadband connectivity to communities lacking adequate commercial network coverage, as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State has been identified as a priority area, with a telecommunications tower currently under construction along the Umuahia–Ohafia road.

This tower is expected to improve connectivity for surrounding communities. Dr. Tijani noted that additional sites may be necessary to ensure comprehensive coverage across the geographically extensive Bende Local Government Area.

The initiative is being supported by Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Member representing Bende Federal Constituency.
