Arson Attack on Catholic Church in Cross River State

On February 26, an arson attack occurred at St. Mary's Catholic Church located in Katchuan, Iruan, within the Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.

According to police sources, the incident was reported at 6:00 AM, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Boki, accompanied by detectives, visited the scene to assess the situation. The attackers allegedly broke into the church premises and set the sacristy ablaze, resulting in the destruction of a Lexus 350 Toyota jeep belonging to the parish priest and a Toyota Corolla parked within the premises.

The motivation behind the attack remains unknown, and no suspects have been identified at this time. The police command has commenced investigations to identify and arrest those responsible, assuring the community of ongoing efforts to resolve the case.
