ASUU Urges Urgent Action on Unpaid Allowances in Kano

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at the University of Kano has issued a statement addressing the issue of unpaid allowances, warning the Kano State government and the Federal Government of Nigeria not to push them to the wall. Comrade Mansur, the branch chairperson, highlighted that despite several correspondences with university administration, no significant progress has been made regarding the implementation of consolidated academic allowances.

The union emphasized that delays in fulfilling these entitlements are creating unnecessary hardship for staff, leading to accumulated arrears. ASUU urged stakeholders to intensify efforts to secure a speedy resolution and insisted that commitments made to university workers must be honored to sustain industrial harmony and promote excellence in higher education.

The union reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue but warned that patience is wearing thin and necessary actions will be taken without further delay in the interest of staff and the university community.
