Baltimore Faces $288 Million in Unpaid Parking Tickets

Baltimore residents are increasingly frustrated with the city's inability to recover an estimated $288 million in unpaid parking tickets, which date back to 2011. A recent city audit uncovered $4 million in uncollected revenue, but residents believe the actual figure is significantly higher.

Community member Sandra Seward highlighted the issue during a recent board meeting, criticizing the city for its failure to address the substantial unpaid debt. City Council President Zeke Cohen echoed these concerns, comparing the situation to the aggressive collection practices for red light camera tickets.

Residents have identified over 100,000 accounts linked to unpaid parking violations, which they argue reflects a serious financial issue for the city. Despite multiple attempts to schedule meetings with city officials to discuss these findings, residents report that three scheduled meetings have been canceled.
