Makinde's PDP Bloc to Proceed with Primaries Despite Wike's Threats

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared its intention to continue with the scheduled primaries and national convention, despite warnings from Nyesom Wike. Wike criticized the current leadership of the PDP, labeling it an "unsolicited display of political rascality" and expressing concerns over the legitimacy of the party's direction.

He threatened to halt the primaries and convention, which are crucial for selecting the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. Makinde's bloc, however, has chosen to ignore Wike's remarks, emphasizing their commitment to the electoral process.

The statement from Makinde's faction also addressed Wike's aspirations to lead the opposition party, asserting that the ongoing situation within the PDP should not deter their plans.
