Wike, Makinde Faction Battles for PDP Control Ahead of 2027

The conflict within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) intensified as Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, and Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, clashed with a faction led by Kabiru Turaki. This dispute centers around the control of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike accused the rival faction of fraud and asserted that they lack the legal standing to manage the party's affairs. He emphasized that the faction's attempt to open a PDP secretariat and bank account in Abuja was illegitimate and vowed to shut down any unauthorized offices.

Wike also criticized the interim committee led by Adolphu Wabara, labeling it as illegal. The factions exchanged accusations regarding the interpretation of a Supreme Court ruling and the legitimacy of their respective leaderships.

Meanwhile, the Ememobong faction dismissed Wike's claims and stated that they would continue their processes, including the sale of nomination forms, despite the ongoing legal disputes.
