Court Orders Final Forfeiture of Malami's Properties

On January 16, 2026, Justice Joyc Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court granted an order for the final forfeiture of properties linked to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed an application for the permanent forfeiture of 57 properties valued at N212.8 billion, alleging that these assets were acquired through unlawful activities.

Justice Abdulmalik dismissed several applications from Malami's family members and companies linked to the properties, which were described in detail. The properties are located across various states, including Abuja, Kano, Kebbi, and Kaduna, and include commercial buildings, hotels, schools, and residential duplexes.

The EFCC was directed to publish the forfeiture order in national newspapers, allowing anyone with interest in the assets to show cause against the permanent forfeiture.
