Seyi Makinde Declares Presidential Bid for 2027 Elections

On Thursday, during a joint mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced his candidacy for the presidency of Nigeria in the 2027 elections. He expressed concern over the worsening situation in the country, stating that Nigerians are in survival mode and that the government has neglected its duty to ensure citizen welfare.

Makinde criticized the opposition, asserting that it is not just political parties but every Nigerian who feels the country is not functioning. He revealed that the alliance between the PDP and APM would enable them to field candidates across various levels, including the presidency, governorship, and state assembly seats.

This strategic alliance aims to strengthen their position in the upcoming elections, with Makinde previously leading a faction of the PDP in Oyo State and signing a memorandum of understanding with the APM.
