Passengers Injured in Abuja-Kaduna Train Accident

On October 30, 2023, a train accident occurred near Asham along the Abuja-Kaduna rail line, resulting in injuries to several passengers. Dr.

Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), confirmed the incident, which triggered panic among those on board. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene.

Reports indicated that passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries during the incident, and they were evacuated to medical facilities at Idu Railway Station for treatment. At the time of the report, no fatalities had been recorded.

Video footage circulating on social media showed damage to the affected coach, and railway personnel were seen inspecting the train. The NRC confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM and involved the rear locomotive and passenger coach.

The train arrived at Idu Station at 10:39 AM, 38 minutes behind schedule, as efforts were made to ensure passenger safety and conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
