U.S. Expands Visa Ban on Supporters of Adversaries

On Thursday, the U.S. Department of State announced an expansion of its visa restrictions aimed at individuals accused of supporting adversarial powers operating within the Western Hemisphere.

This policy aligns with national security priorities under President Donald Trump, who seeks to prevent foreign adversaries from gaining influence and undermining U.S. interests in the region. The expanded policy targets nations and individuals acting on behalf of adversarial government entities that threaten U.S. interests.

Individuals and their immediate family members will generally be ineligible for entry into the United States. The statement noted that the action taken is based on Section 212 (3)(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, allowing the U.S. government to bar entry to individuals whose presence is deemed harmful to foreign policy interests.

The announcement did not provide a list of the 26 individuals affected nor specify the countries considered adversarial. This action is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to reassert U.S. primacy in the Western Hemisphere.
