US and Iran Engage in Escalating Military Strikes

The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran escalated significantly, with both nations trading military strikes across the Middle East. On Friday, Iran accused US forces of targeting civilian infrastructure, including airports and railways, resulting in at least eight deaths and 20 injuries.

This marked a notable increase in hostilities following a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict that began in February. Iranian state media reported that the Revolutionary Guard launched strikes on US radar sites in the Gulf and a military base in Syria, while US forces shot down several Iranian missiles.

The situation intensified with Iran's military spokesperson warning that US infrastructure would become legitimate targets. The conflict has also affected the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.

Iranian officials, including Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that the deal to end the war would be contingent on its implementation, while US Press Secretary Karolin Leavitt stated that the US would hold Iran accountable.
