US Firm Advocates for Release of Tinubu's Drug Records

The United States-based lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York, associated with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is intensifying efforts to obtain records related to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's alleged drug trafficking case. The firm announced plans to engage anti-drug groups and affected individuals in the US, claiming that several American law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), have failed to release documents despite multiple Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests submitted by transparency advocate Aaron Greenspan.

The firm stated that a court order from US District Judge Beryl Howell in 2025 directed the Biden Administration to release the files, but none have been made available. The lobbying firm plans to meet with anti-drug campaigners and families impacted by heroin abuse to further its advocacy.

Atiku Abubakar criticized the Nigerian government's handling of the situation, particularly in response to petitions submitted to the US government regarding Tinubu's 1993 civil forfeiture case.
