Zheng Qinwen Stuns Iga Swiatek at US Open Quarter-Finals

Zheng Qinwen achieved a stunning victory at the US Open by coming back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat former champion Iga Swiatek, securing her place in the quarter-finals. This marks the second consecutive match where Zheng, the reigning Olympic champion, has rallied from a similar position, having previously overcome Madison Keys in the third round.

Zheng, who dropped outside the world’s top 100 earlier this year due to struggles following elbow surgery in July 2025, won 13 of the next 16 games after trailing Swiatek. The match took place on Arthur Ashe Stadium, where Zheng broke Swiatek's serve twice in the second set to clinch a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

This win is her seventh in a row in New York, including three rounds of qualifying, and positions her close to re-entering the top 50. Zheng expressed her excitement and readiness for the upcoming matches, stating she felt energized and eager to perform at her best.
