Usain Bolt Joins Manchester Veterans Football Team

Usain Bolt, the eight-time Olympic champion sprinter, has registered to play for Wythenshawe Vets FC, a veterans’ Sunday league team in Manchester. His registration is listed on the Football Association’s Full-Time website.

Wythenshawe Vets compete in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League and have previously attracted attention for their impressive squad, which includes former Premier League players such as Emile Heskey, Oumar Niasse, Antonio Valencia, Papiss Cisse, Joleon Lescott, Danny Drinkwater, Stephen Ireland, and Nedum Onuoha. At 40 years old, Bolt, who holds world records in the 100 metres and 200 metres, previously attempted a career in professional football after retiring from athletics in 2017.

He trained with several clubs and signed a contract with Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners in 2018, where he scored twice in a pre-season friendly. However, his stint lasted only eight weeks.

Wythenshawe Vets have not officially announced Bolt’s registration, and the club has been contacted for comment.
