Usman Resigns as NAHCON Chairman Citing Personal Reasons

Professor Usman stepped down as the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), citing personal reasons for his resignation. He announced his decision to resign in a signed statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, with the exit taking effect on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Usman disclosed that he formally communicated his resignation to President Bola Tinubu, in accordance with Section 3.6 of the NAHCON Establishment Act of 2006. He expressed gratitude to the President for entrusting him with the leadership of the commission and extended appreciation to Vice President Kashim Shettima for his guidance and support during his tenure.

Usman acknowledged the collaborative efforts of board members, commission staff, stakeholders, and various agencies involved in improving the nation's Hajj operations. He clarified that his resignation was not due to any conflict or dissatisfaction with the commission, the federal government, or state authorities but was a personal decision.

Usman also thanked the Saudi Arabian counterparts for their support in Hajj operations.
