Pat Utomi to Unite Opposition Against Tinubu for 2027

The Movement for Credible Elections (MCE), led by Professor Pat Utomi, is coordinating talks among prominent opposition politicians to form a united front against incumbent President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. The initiative involves closed-door meetings with key opposition candidates, including Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and others.

These discussions aim to produce a single candidate to challenge Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. According to a statement from MCE's Media Coordinator, James Ezema, the meetings will be concluded within two weeks, with a tactical session scheduled in Ibadan.

The rationale for the closed-door format is to prevent sabotage from those opposed to the initiative. The selection process will prioritize credibility, transparency, and fairness, with criteria including national acceptability and political electability.
