Opposition Leaders Work to Unite Against Tinubu in 2027

Salihu Lukman, the former Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum, revealed that a framework is being developed to unify opposition parties in Nigeria for the 2027 elections. He stated that the goal is to present a single candidate to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview with Arise News, Lukman emphasized that the opposition must recognize that their main adversary is the APC and not each other. He mentioned that a proposal has been made for opposition leaders to consider, aiming to create a structure for collaboration.

Lukman stressed that the ultimate objective is to have one candidate, which requires agreement on the criteria for selection among the candidates. He posed a critical question to the opposition: whether they want to merely be candidates or actually win the presidency.

He reiterated the need for unity to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the upcoming elections.
