Uwais Maiwada: Biochemist Turned Fashion Entrepreneur

Uwais Abdullahi Maiwada, son of a Court of Appeal judge, shifted from a career in biochemistry and molecular biology to create a successful fashion and lifestyle brand in Abuja. His brand, which began as Uwais Caps in 2017, evolved into a thriving fashion house and tea lounge that attracts influential Nigerians.

Maiwada established the Uwais Maiwada Aid Foundation (UMAF) to focus on education and skills development, organizing its first Impact Forum on July 28, 2025. The foundation promotes vocational education as a means to create employment opportunities.

Maiwada's model combines training with production, ensuring that trainees can directly enter the workforce after completing their education. He also offers wardrobe management services for busy professionals, helping them curate outfits based on their schedules.

This innovative approach aims to empower young people and create sustainable job opportunities through partnerships with various organizations.
