Oyo Governor Makinde Expels 'Vagabonds' from PDP, Asserts Control Amid Party Disruptions

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expelled individuals labeled as "vagabonds" from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in a bid to eliminate internal disruptions within the party. Makinde, during the unveiling of the Oyo State PDP secretariat in Ibadan, described the recent developments within the party.

He invoked a Yoruba proverb to illustrate the internal crisis that has plagued the PDP for years, particularly since the party lost federal power in 2015, creating a leadership vacuum in the state. Makinde emphasized his group's dominance in the party's affairs for nearly a decade, distancing the Oyo State government from the PDP's internal and legal battles at the national level over leadership disputes.

He reflected on his political journey, acknowledging past alliances and withdrawals of support from certain groups while stressing his opposition to attempts by these groups to retain control of the party. Makinde suggested that the influence of these groups is diminishing rapidly, likening them to individuals wearing rags dancing around midnight, predicting their imminent scattering.
