Conference in Lagos to Enhance University Funding Access

The Commonwealth Institute is set to hold a conference in Lagos on May 21-22, 2026, aimed at improving financial access for universities facing increasing financial pressures and regulatory demands. The event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Sonni Echono, Executive Secretary of Tetfund, and Wale Adeosun, a respected investment professional in infrastructure finance.

Other notable speakers include Ayo Abina, a financial advisory expert, and Professor Yakubu Ochefu, former Secretary General of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities. The conference will be moderated by Anthon Kila, a Jean Monnet Professor of Strategic Development.

The discussions will focus on practical strategies to strengthen the university system and explore revenue diversification, research commercialization, and donor engagement.
