ASUU Chairman Raises Alarm Over Lecturers' Financial Struggles in Nigeria

Dr. Alex Akanmu, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Ilorin, expressed concern over members resorting to driving for Uber and begging due to poor working conditions and stagnant salaries.

Akanmu highlighted the financial struggles faced by lecturers, leading some to borrow money or engage in additional jobs like farming and Uber driving. The ASUU chairman emphasized the need for improved conditions and salary adjustments to prevent further impoverishment of Nigerian academics compared to their global counterparts.
