Kwara State University Lecturers Demand Payment of 2009 Allowances Amidst Union Protests

Lecturers at Kwara State University, Malete, under the ASUU union, are demanding the payment of earned academic allowances dating back to 2009. The KWASU ASUU chairman, Prof.

Shehu Abdulganiyu Salau, stated that despite assurances from the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the allowances remain unpaid. Other universities like LAUTECH and UNIOSUN also face similar issues with third-party deductions affecting their allowances.

The lecturers staged a peaceful demonstration to highlight their grievances and urge the government to fulfill its promises. The delay in payment has impacted the welfare of academic staff, leading to dissatisfaction within the educational sector in Kwara State.
