VCN and NDLEA Strengthen Partnership Against Drug Abuse

On a courtesy visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) headquarters in Abuja, Professor Mathew Adamu, President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), met with Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa, the agency's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. During the meeting, Professor Adamu congratulated General Marwa on his reappointment by President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of leadership in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria.

He highlighted the existing partnership between the VCN and NDLEA and commended the agency for providing opportunities for the veterinary profession during recruitment exercises. Adamu advocated for an increase in recruitment slots for veterinary doctors in future exercises, stressing their critical role in drug detection operations and public health management.

He also called for the revival of anti-drug clubs in tertiary institutions to prevent substance abuse among youth. General Marwa assured the VCN of NDLEA's commitment to strengthening collaboration, particularly in canine management for drug control initiatives.
