Kola Oyewo's Funeral Scheduled for August 7, 2026

Kola Oyewo, a renowned Nigerian actor and theatre scholar, will be laid to rest on August 7, 2026, in Osun State. His family announced a three-day funeral program from August 5 to August 7, 2026.

The program will commence with a wake-keeping service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Igboya on August 5, followed by a commendation mass on August 6. A cultural display featuring tributes to Oyewo's contributions will take place at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University.

The funeral cortege will leave his residence at Es Ola's compound on the morning of August 7, leading to a requiem mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 12:45 PM. The interment will occur at Labaluyegb Villa, with the ceremony restricted to family members and close associates.

Kola Oyewo's legacy as a mentor and influential figure in Nigerian theatre is widely recognized, marking the end of an era in the community.
