Nollywood Actor Kola Oyewo Passes Away at 80

Kola Oyewo, a veteran Nollywood actor, has died at the age of 80, as confirmed by his colleague Kunle Afod on Friday. Oyewo, born on March 27, 1946, in Oba Il, Osun State, began his acting career in 1964 with the Oyin Adejobi Theatre Group.

He later collaborated with the late dramatist Chief Ola Rotimi, gaining widespread recognition across the African theater scene, particularly for his portrayal in Rotimi's renowned play "God Don't Blame." Beyond acting, Oyewo was a distinguished scholar, earning a bachelor's degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and a master's degree from the University of Ibadan. He served as a senior lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University until his retirement in 2011 and subsequently taught at Redeemer's University and Elizade University.

His immense talent and contributions to the Nigerian theater and film industry continue to inspire future generations.
