Kola Oyewo's Family Announces Burial Plans for Actor

The family of veteran Nigerian actor Kola Oyewo, also known as Chief Dr. Adekola Gabriel Oyewo, has announced burial arrangements following his passing at the age of 80. The funeral activities are scheduled to take place from August 5 to August 7, 2026, in Osun State.

The program will commence with a wake-keeping service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Igboya on August 5, followed by a commendation mass on August 6. A cultural night featuring tributes and performances will occur at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, attracting theater practitioners, academics, and cultural enthusiasts.

An exhibition showcasing Oyewo's work, including rare photographs and memorabilia, will be held at the Pit Theatre, African Studies Building, Obafemi Awolowo University, from August 6 to August 7. The funeral cortege will depart from the family residence in Oba Il on August 7, proceeding to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a requiem mass at 12:45 p.m., followed by a private ceremony for family and close associates.
