Maureen Solomon Okerek Reflects on Quitting Acting

Maureen Solomon Okerek, a veteran Nollywood actress, announced that she quit acting in 2011 to focus on raising her children, stating she has no regrets about her decision. During her career, she featured in 80 films and was a prominent face in the industry alongside stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, and Ngozi Ezeonu.

Okerek revealed that motherhood made it impossible for her to continue taking movie roles after the birth of her second child. She clarified that her decision to step away from Nollywood was entirely her own, denying any insinuations that her husband pressured her to stop acting.

After a seven-year hiatus, Okerek returned to the industry, which she found to have evolved significantly. Despite her time away, her passion for acting remained intact, and she kept a close eye on the industry's growth, particularly through social media, which she views as a measure of an actor's value.

Her acting career began in 2000 when she made her debut in a film directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen.
