New Commander Appointed for NIMASA Maritime Guard

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas has officially approved the appointment of Commodore Reginald Odeodi Adoki as the new commander of the Maritime Guard Command (MGC) within the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). He succeeds Commodore H.C.

Oriekez in this role. Commodore Adoki has an extensive background in the Nigerian Navy, with 25 years of experience, including training staff and operational roles.

He has commanded notable units such as NN Andoni, NN Kyanwa, and NN Kada, the latter of which undertook the maiden voyage of a country-built unit in the United Arab Emirates. Adoki holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, as well as an MSc in Terrorism, Security, and Policing from the University of Leicester, England.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Defence and Security Studies at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Dr.

Dayo Mobereola, the Director General of NIMASA, expressed confidence that Adoki's appointment will further strengthen Nigeria's maritime security architecture.
