Oshiomhole Questions Umahi Over Abuja-Kaduna Road Contract Award

Former Governor Adam Oshiomhole raised concerns during a budget defense session in the National Assembly over the handling of the Abuja-Kaduna Road rehabilitation project. He accused the Federal Ministry of Works of removing the contract from construction giant Julius Berger and awarding it to a new company, Mikano, which is known for generator distribution but lacks road construction experience.

Oshiomhole criticized the decision, questioning why a reputable company like Julius Berger was replaced with an unknown entity. Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, defended the move, stating that he had no regrets revoking Julius Berger's contract.

The controversy stems from the lack of a construction track record for Mikano, raising doubts about the project's success.
