Hoodlums Attack Motorists in Jos Amid Curfew Relaxation

On Wednesday, in Jos, Plateau State, hoodlums launched attacks on motorists and residents, leading to heightened tensions in the city despite a recent relaxation of the curfew imposed by the state government. A young man was reportedly killed by the assailants while walking along the road near the Unijo permanent site, which further intensified panic among residents already on edge due to the unrest.

The violence resulted in several motorists having their windscreens smashed, and there were mob attacks on passing vehicles and pedestrians. Business activities were paralyzed as shop owners refused to open their establishments out of fear of being caught in the violence.

Banks in volatile locations were forced to temporarily shut down operations, and staff struggled to navigate the escalating tension. Areas significantly affected included the Unijo corridor, Bauchi Road, Farin Gada, Tina Junction, and Chobe.
