Peter Obi Praises Rescue of Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren

Peter Obi, a member of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor of Anambra State, reacted positively to the rescue of 39 pupils and seven teachers who were abducted on May 15 by gunmen at a school in Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State. Obi expressed joy over the victims' freedom and commended the security personnel and others whose efforts contributed to the successful rescue operation.

He noted the trauma that children endure during such abductions and stressed the urgent need for stronger security measures to protect lives and property. Obi maintained that every child deserves to receive an education in a safe environment, free from fear.

He reiterated the importance of government commitment to ensuring safety in schools and expressed optimism for a better Nigeria, where children can pursue education without the threat of violence or abduction.
