Couple Arrested After Scaling Empire State Building for Proposal

On Wednesday, Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerku were arrested after bypassing security protocols to climb the antenna of the Empire State Building in New York City for a marriage proposal. The couple, known for their daredevil stunts, unfurled a massive banner reading "When power of love beats love of power, the world will know peace" at a height of 1,454 feet (443 meters).

They were captured on video, with the moment of the proposal going viral. The NYPD responded to the situation, confirming that the two individuals were taken into custody without incident and that no injuries were reported.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues. The couple frequently uploads their adventurous climbs to social media and are featured in a 2024 Netflix documentary titled "Skywalk Love Story." Public access to the higher observation deck of the Empire State Building is strictly forbidden, and it remains unclear how they reached the restricted antenna area.
