Obi and Amaechi Attend Funeral of Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour

On Wednesday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), and Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), met in Lagos at the funeral service for Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour, the mother of ADC governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. They joined family, political associates, and friends to pay their respects to the deceased, who passed away on July 13.

Obi had previously attended a Service of Songs for Rhodes-Vivour’s mother, where he paid tribute and encouraged the bereaved family. He emphasized the importance of living upright lives in the face of loss.

Obi's attendance followed criticism from supporters regarding his initial silence after the announcement of her death. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour shared the news of his mother's passing via his official X account, describing her as a loving and devoted matriarch.

Both Obi and Rhodes-Vivour were prominent figures in the Labour Party during the 2023 elections but have since taken different political paths.
