Aiyedatiwa Defends Akure Flyover Amid Tinubu's Comments

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa clarified President Bola Tinubu's recent remarks regarding the construction of flyovers by state governors. Tinubu had advised against building flyovers in areas with low traffic, suggesting that governors should utilize increased federal allocations for road networks.

Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the newly flagged-off 2.38km flyover project at Oba Adesida Road in Akure is necessary to alleviate traffic congestion in a critical area of the city. He stated that the President's comments did not pertain to this project, asserting that it is essential due to high traffic and the economic activities in the region.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the Oyemekun-Off Oba Adesida axis is a vital corridor for commercial and social activities in Akure, which has been strained by population growth and increased vehicular movement. He urged the contractor to adhere to the project’s design and budget, reinforcing the importance of the flyover for urban renewal and infrastructure development.
