VON and China Launch Mandarin Program to Boost Relations

Voice of Nigeria (VON) and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria have initiated a Mandarin language program to promote Mandarin learning among Nigerians, especially targeting media professionals and young people seeking educational and business opportunities in China. The program was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Jibrin Baba Ndace, the Director General of VON, who described the initiative as a significant step in strengthening the enduring friendship between Nigeria and China.

The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, emphasized the program's strategic importance in enhancing cooperation between China and African countries, particularly following the successful China-Africa Cooperation Forum held in Beijing. Dr.

Suleiman Haruna, Director of Public Relations and Protocol at the Federal Ministry of Information, noted that the initiative aims to create training opportunities for VON staff and enhance their language acquisition for international business engagements.
