Chinese Language Competition Promotes Cultural Exchange in Nigeria

The Chinese Embassy and the China Cultural Centre in Nigeria urged Nigerian youths to embrace language and cultural exchange during the 19th Nigeria Division of the Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition held in Abuja. This event commemorated the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China.

Yang Jianx, a representative from the Chinese Embassy, emphasized the importance of language as a tool for fostering mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the two nations. The competition featured students from various educational institutions, with Nnamdi Azikiwe University students dominating the university category.

Emmanuel Faith Mba Orjiugo won first place with 94 points, followed by Onyeocha Cecilea Ugochi and Okek Jessica Chinemerem. In the secondary school category, Michael Uchechi Justina emerged as the overall winner with 95.2 points.

The event highlighted the growing interest in Mandarin among Nigerian students and the ongoing educational partnership between Nigeria and China.
