Atiku Abubakar Urges Youth to Vote for Competence

On Saturday, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed hundreds of young Nigerians at the RiseUpNaija Movement Leadership Retreat in Abuja. He emphasized that his 2027 presidential bid is motivated by a desire to foster accountable leadership and equal opportunities for all Nigerians, rather than personal ambition.

Atiku urged the youth to reject vote buying and defend the electoral process's integrity, asserting that collective participation would outweigh monetary influences. He stated, “If millions of young Nigerians participate peacefully, vote responsibly and defend the integrity of the process, no amount of money can overcome the collective will of the people.” The event also marked the inauguration of state coordinators for the RiseUpNaija Movement, which includes members from various political parties supporting Atiku's candidacy.

He reflected on his long-standing commitment to democracy and the need for improved governance to unlock the potential of Nigeria's youth.
